The Systems Biology is an emergent field of research that aims at understanding and describing the complex relationships that builds the diversity of life, focusing the observation on the global behaviour of the system. In fact, since the parallel observation of number of phenomena highlights multiple interactions among items, the systemic approach tries to gather the complexity of the network of relationships. In this context has been developed the clinical-genomics, a recently born area bridging biology and medicine, that aims at applying the detailed molecular knowledge extracted from genome-wide analyses to the information obtainable from clinical and bioimaging examinations. The seminar will present this clinical-genomics approach on which different techniques, such as bioimaging and gene microarrays, applied on the study and modeling of single-molecule properties and the analysis of local phenomena, can be merged in order to go insight of the comprehension of complex biological phenomena and discover predictive, preventive and personalized new therapies for multi-factorial genetic pathologies.
