Learning outcomes

Mathematics is an old science, but it is often ignored its historical development.
The purpose of this course is to analyze some classical problems and their solution, not from a strictly mathematical point of view, but rather focusing on the methods used for their solution.

Syllabus

* Unsolvable problems: do they exist?
* Geometry in Greek mathematics; ruler and compass constructions.
* Equations of degree higher than two.
* Graphs.
* The continuum: the birth of real numbers.
