The objective of the project Killing System is to demonstrate the
feasibility of an ROV intervention for killing a well in blow out during
drilling operations in deep waters, avoiding the need of drilling a
relief well.
Preliminary configuration of the intervention system using ROV includes:
• sensors for well head localization
• two ROV’s, attached to the killing string by means of docking arms
• killing string free to move in vertical direction
• manual and automatic control of horizontal killing string end position.
The project work includes design, development and test of the sensing
workstation, merging the measurement data of the two acoustic cameras
and evaluating the position of the simulated well hole.
