Dear Students,
the 1st exam session of the course "Epidemiological methods and clinical epidemiology" (Master's degree in Medical Bioinformatics) will be held as a written test in presence (Aula informatica – Borgo Roma – Policlinico G.B. Rossi (lato sud-ovest) – Piastra servizi) on 3 February at 9:00.
The aim of the test is to verify the knowledge of all the topics discussed and the ability to solve a biomedical problem by analysing health data using STATA software. Alternatively, students can use R software. The results and their interpretation are reported in written form. In addition, students have to answer some questions to ascertain the understanding of theory.
The remote exam (online oral test using the Zoom software) is however guaranteed for all students who request it in the academic year 2020/21. Students will take the exam in pairs on the time that will be communicated by e-mail on 1 February. Students will need a computer with a webcam, microphone and speakers/headphones. Please, verify that everything works on your computer before taking the exam.
Students are asked to carry out a statistical analysis using STATA software (we type the commands for you) and to interpret the STATA output. Alternatively, students can use R software (they analyse a dataset available in Moodle and the results and their interpretation are reported in oral form). In addition, students have to answer some questions to ascertain the understanding of theory.
The student has to confirm his/her participation in the exam by sending an e-mail to Prof Simone Accordini and Dr Alessandro Marcon within 31 January. In this e-mail, the student has to specify the requested type of exam (written test in presence or online oral test) and the software used (STATA or R).
Note that, if the Veneto Region is classified “red area” to control the Covid-19 pandemia, the exam session will be held as an online oral test for all students. In that case, students will be notified via e-mail through Moodle.
Best regards,
Simone Accordini, Alessandro Marcon
