3D Printing Technology has seen some remarkable improvements over the past years.
Still, for many applications, 3D printing is not amenable since the reproduction
of surface optical properties is not accurate. In this talk, I will summarize our
recent results in using commercial printers to reproduce complex spatially-varying
appearance. I will show that by solving complex computational problems we can
reproduce the appearance of a variety of natural and man-made materials,
from scratched metals to wood, from jade and marble to salmon meat.
