One of the current priority missions consists in the protection and enhancement of urban and suburban green spaces and local biodiversity, improving the quality of life and air, in order to face environmental emergencies and global warming.
UNIVR will develop an IT application that allows Municipalities to co-design and manage proximity areas with their citizens.
The application will operate in "multi-tenant" mode, i.e., it is a single web cloud application in which each user-Municipality can create its own project independently. The application consists of a set of dashboards for professionals and to interact with the citizens. The application will be made available to all municipalities without costs since development and hosting costs have already been incurred in the project and no installation effort is needed because of the cloud-based architecture. Therefore this application can be fully considered as an original contribution of the project for the community. The application will include all the other results of the project. From the design perspective, unlike traditional CAD tools, it takes into account all the aspects of the problem, i.e., architectural, ecological, social, health and regulatory. During the design, it allows to put in place the mechanisms for the social engagement.
After the deployment of the solution, the application acts as a communication channel between the Municipality and its citizens and allows the collection and analysis of georeferenced metrics, providing indications to citizens and policy-makers on the potential benefits of their choices. The application also supports the participatory maintenance of the green areas with the supervision of the gardeners of the Municipality which can commission the volunteers and check their notifications.
