Description
The TOOL project aims at providing a tool chain supporting the whole life-cycle of applications based on
wireless cooperating objects (WCO’s). The tool chain will address requirements specification, design,
validation through simulation, deployment, debugging and management. The strategic objective is to fill the
gap between the theoretical research on WCO’s and their industrial adoption; it can be achieved by providing
an integrated development environment which allow software companies to write and manage complex WCO
applications as currently happens for traditional ICT applications. The added value of this project is the
integration of existing tools provided by the partners into a well-connected tool chain even if also the
improvement of each component will be addressed especially to address security and dependability.
The created tool chain will be used by one of the partners – a traditional software company – for the creation of
a smart environment for another partner – a hospital –; in this way the effectiveness of the project results will be
shown, in particular the aspects of tool usability by a company involved in traditional ICT and of security. Even if
the particular application will be used by the hospital, the corresponding use cases will chosen to represent a broad
range of applications such as monitoring and resource tracking.
