Aim of the project is defining a semantic mapping between the Italian national specification (Italian National Core) for geo-spatial information provided by the CISIS (Centro Interregionale per i Sistemi Informatici, geografici e statistici) and the INSPIRE data specification developed by the European Commission. The definition of such mapping will be performed through the use of the GeoUML Tools and methodology developed in conjunction with Politecnico di Milano. In particular, the mapping definition will include the extension of such tools in order to include mapping rules specifically tailored for capturing the classes of the Italian National Core and translating them into the classes of the INSPIRE specification.
