Attentive vision research investigates ways in which fast,
fluent, adaptive responses can be supported by less
computationally intensive routines, which intertwine sensing
with acting and moving in the world. An important example, is
provided by the use of eye movements to survey a visual and
to extract detailed information only at selected foveated
locations. In this talk, background on gaze control and its
relationships to attention mechanisms will be reviewed. It
will be discussed how these ideas can be developed in
computational models. In particular, it will be shown how the
attentive approach may be usefully applied to image and video
analysis.
