The project aims at providing home automation capabilities to an embedded platform which is currently used to manage multimedia contents.
This platform, designed by the company SpID, is called Moulin Rouge and can distribute multimedia contents over a tcp/ip network using several different sources, such as satellite, DVD, hard disks and others. The user interacts with the system through a remote control (infra-red) and an OSD (on screen display) front-end which allows to select sources, contents to view and vary many configuration parameters.

The main goal of this project is to let the user to control also intelligent devices (lights, heating …), in at his/her home in the same way he/she selects the contents to play. The Moulin Rouge platform must then be extended to discover autonomously such intelligent devices, show their location in a dedicated front-end and let the user to make his/her choice. For this to be done implementation activities to extend the Moulin Rouge platform must be joined to research activities on device discovery and location of devices for the home automation.
