Learning outcomes

This second section of the course is an introduction to ordinary differential equations: it deals with the first and second order linear equations, in particular the forced oscillations, and with separation of variables, in particular in order to show some Cauchy problems with and without uniqueness of solutions. Moreover we study the topology of the real line and sequetial compactness in the line.

Syllabus

INTRODUCTION TO ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS. Linear equations of the first and second order. Forced oscillations. Separation of variables. Cauchy problems with and without uniqueness of the solutions.

TOPOLOGY OF THE REAL LINE. Topology of the line and of the extended line. Closure and sequences in R. Sequetial compactness in R.
