There are two main stages involved into the project: the off-line and the on-line phases.
The off-line phase is devoted to the model acquisition of a set of objects that will be considered during the production line. A database of such models will be defined by adopting a reverse engineering approach that involves:
  • data acquisition and pre-processing (off-line),
  • 2D-3D segmentation,
  • model fitting,
  • features extraction.
The on-line phase is related to the line processing pipeline that involves:
  • data acquisition (on-line);
  • object extraction;
  • features extraction;
  • object recognition.
Three applicative scenarios will be taken into account that are characterised by increasing levels of complexity.
